Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Manifattura Valle Brembana, a textile firm located in Zogno (Bergamo), is to close and lay off its 310 employees. The affected workers are mainly women aged between 40 and 45 years.
The company has been declared bankrupt by the Tribunal of Bergamo, following an 9-year long crisis and an intensive use of short-time working schemes.
Unions called public authorities to take action and wish investors interested in purchasing the plant will be found.
