Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Hotel chain Travelodge has announced plans to create 1,000 jobs over the summer of 2017. Of the 1,000 positions, 700 will be permanent and 300 will be temporary roles for the summer. The positions are a result of both the need for seasonal staff and the company's expansion plans. Travelodge have previously announced plans to open more hotels throughout 2017, though it is reported that these new jobs are to be added to the chain's existing hotel network. The jobs on offer will be at all levels within the business; Travelodge has commented that the temporary positions would be ideal for students.
