Description
Call centre operator Qè announced the dismissal of about 600 workers at two sites in Paternò (Catania).
The company has decided to close the site following a period of severe crisis and the loss of an important order for the media company Sky.
The dismissals will affect mainly call centre operators and administrative staff. About half of the workers have been hired on self-employment contracts and they are not covered by legal protections against dismissals.
Unions are taking part in negotiations and aim at agreeing alternatives to dismissals, including short-time working schemes.
