Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Airline EasyJet has announced that it is to create 450 new jobs for pilots as part of a major new recruitment drive. The jobs will be based across the UK and will command an average starting salary of GBP 40,000 (€45,300). The airline previously expanded significantly in 2015, when it launched its 'Amy Johnson Initiative' to recruit more female pilots. It is expected that this will continue and female pilots will constitute a significant proportion of the latest intake. Three hundred of the new positions are expected to be offered to cadets, and the remaining positions will be taken by more experienced pilots and co-pilots.
