Description

The French premium cable television channel  Canal + has announced, in the framework of a €300 million cost saving plan launched in summer 2016, a reorganisation of its call-centres that will lead to the closure of its centre of Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), near Paris, where 153 people  are currently employed. The activity will be transferred to the call-centre of Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), which has a workforce of 150 employees. One of the reason is the decreasing number of phone-calls managed by the call-centre: customers use more and more digital tools instead of reaching Canal + by phone. The plan is now being discussed with the central works council and the first departures may occur after a three months information and consultation process. The management want to mitigate social consequences of the job reductions with redeployment measures within Canal+ (in the site of Rennes) or the group Vivendi, owner of Canal+, or to provide financial support to individuals' projects.
