Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
United Closures and Plastics (UCP), a company which manufactures bottle tops and closures for the spirits industry, has announced that it is to create 49 new jobs at its plant at Bridge of Allan, just north of Stirling. The plant already employs around 300 workers and is looking to add to its headcount as it develops new products to safeguard against counterfeiting in the spirits industry. The jobs are being supported by a GBP 1.5 million (€1.7 million) grant from Scottish Enterprise, which is part of the company's two year investment programme. The timetable for the creation of the new jobs has not been reported.
