Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The German software company SAP announced an internal reorganisation. The reorganisation will affect some 4,000 of the 14,600 employees of SAP globally, according to the general manager Klaus Merx. The available information on the reorganisation is limited, but previous estimates expect some 1,000 employees to make use of the voluntary redundancy scheme that has been put in place for the reorganisation. A further 3,000 jobs are now said to be cut. SAP itself has not responded to the news. Moreover, SAP announced the creation of 150 jobs in Ireland by the end of 2018.
