Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Polish producer of paper products Żywieckie Zakłady Papiernicze Solali has announced that it will implement a collective dismissal programme affecting 148 jobs at the unit in Żywiec. The company entered a liquidation process last September (2016) as the company has about PLN 30 million debt (EUR 7.15 million USD 7.91 million), and some of the employees have not received salaries since March 2017. The company’s trustee has tried to find a new investor.
The factory in Żywiec was established in 1833. The company is specialised in the production of pure pulp papers, napkin tissue papers, decorative tissue papers and tablecloths.
