Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
It has been announced that Kincardine Offshore will create 200 jobs at Kishorn Dry Dock in Wester Ross, Scotland. The dock will be used for the first time in 23 years in the construction of floating turbines which will be located off the coast of Aberdeen. The deal between the port and the wind farm company has been supported by Highlands and Islands Enterprise who have contributed approximately one-third of the GBP 450,000 (€525,071) costs of upgrading the dry dock. It is understood that work will begin at the site in August 2017 and that the first of the eight turbines will be floated in the second quarter of 2018.
