Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Siemens Elektromotory Frenštát, a Czech subsidiary producing electromotors, is to create 200 new jobs by April 2018 with the setting up a new line for the production of Simotics SD digitized engines which are the first digital motors of the company. The total investment amounted to more than CZK 130 million (EUR 4.880 million). Recruitment of new employees (135 in production and 65 in technical positions) will take place gradually. Siemens is looking for electro machinists, winders, varnishers, welders and CNC machinists. Technical positions include developers, electricians and machine builders and call centre staff who offer new products around the world. The company intends to invest a total of CZK 410 million (EUR 16.5 million) into the Frenštát site in 2017 and 2018.
