Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Tayto group has announced that it is to create 60 new positions at its factory in Scunthorpe. The site which already employs 300 staff makes potato crisps for the 'Golden Wonder' brand. Since 2014 the owners have invested heavily in new technology investing a total of GBP 6 million ( €7.13 Million). Installation of a third cooker has helped increase production and further capital investment is reported to be planned. The new posts will range from production operatives to engineering supervisors and will pay between GBP 15,000 and GBP 55,000 (€17,831 and € 65,000) annually for full time roles.
