Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In a strong development, Star's Service, which is specialised in last mile logistics, plans to hire close to 500 new permanent employees this year, including drivers, wharf managers and dispatchers, order pickers and employees for support functions at the company's headquarters. The company explains that the future recruitment will serve both to meet the arrival of new customers, particularly in retail and healthcare, and to strengthen the existing teams (3,200 employees, more than 90% of them on permanent employment contracts).
