Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The company Alestis, specialised in manufacturing of aircraft components, has announced the dismissal of 70 workers (26% of its entire workforce) from its manufacturing plant located in Sevilla (Andalusia). It also aims to reduce staff wages by 25%. The head of employment in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia ha announced that the authority supports the working council in its opposition to the dismissals. He has met with the working committee to let them know that the regional government will negotiate to obtain that the measures finally implemented are less traumatic as possible.
In the governing board of Alestis, the Andalusian government was previously represented. Currently, only Public Law entity SEPI is present.
