Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German pharmaceutical company Ratiopharm will cut over 100 jobs at its site in Ulm. The company currently employs around 2,500 staff at its location in Ulm. Already in 2016, 100 jobs were cut at this site (see Ratiopharm 2016). Teva Deutschland, Ratiopharm's parent company, wants to restructure its business in Ulm in order o become a biotech and technology competence centre. The recently announced job cuts are to be realised by early retirement programmes and voluntary leave. However, dismissal due to operational reasons were not excluded by the management. Information on the timeline of the restructuring is yet to become available.
Ratiopharm is a German pharmaceutical company with headquarters in Ulm. The company was taken over by Teva in October 2010.
