Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The European weapons manufacturer MBDA has announced major hiring plans in the EU to recruit 1,100 employees including 600 in France by the end of 2017 . MBDA has 10,000 employees including 4,300 in France. The announcement comes after MBDA won several major international contracts in 2015 for a total amount of € 5.2 billion. Hiring at EU level was recorded in 2015 with 550 job creations, but also a restructuring in France in 2011 with 300 job creations and 400 job cuts, and in 2005 with 270 job cuts. MBDA group, according to the press article, has recruited 4,000 people in the period 2013-2017: 600 in 2013, in 2014 and in 2015, 1,000 in 2016 and now 1,100.
