Online retailer Amazon will create up to 1,000 new jobs in Slovakia during the coming three years. The company will open a 60,000 square metre logistics centre in Sered in the third quarter of 2017. According to Roy Perticucci, the Vice President of Amazon Europe, the company will soon begin hiring the new members of the staff, which includes managers of service units, technicians, HR managers, bookkeepers and IT specialists.
Slovak Minister of Economy, Peter Ziga, welcomes the decision of Amazon to also include Slovakia in its business expansion in Europe. He considers the new investment to be very valuable for the economy as well as in terms of employment opportunities, and appreciates that the investor does not require any incentives from the state. Since 2011 Amazon has been operating a sales promotion service centre in Bratislava that will continue to operate as an independent business unit.
