Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Chinese company A123 Systems headquartered in the United States is to create up 150 new jobs after opening a new plant for the production of starter lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles in the city of Ostrava. The firm has already recruited 20 people recently, by the end of 2017 there should be 50 and over the next three years the firm wants to have all the 150 employees. The investment is worth $ 13 million. According to the director, there is a lack of suitable skilled workers. The company has already begun to cooperate with the University and would find future employees among students. A123 Systems plans to produce over 600 thousand batteries per year. So far, the company operates its business only in China and the United States.
