Description
German art casting company Strassacker announced to cut about 120 jobs in Süßen, Baden-Wurttemberg by the end of 2017. Especially employees from the serial production are affected. According to the company the cost reduction measure has become necessary due to the difficult economic situation. Especially the demand for grave decorations has been decreasing.
The German Metalworkers’ Union and the works’ council criticised the plan, arguing that the management has no concept for the future of the company. Management want to implement the job cuts as socially acceptable as possible. The company also plans to relocate some production activities to locations with lower labor costs.
Currently 450 employees are working at the company's site in Süßen.
