Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

Miele, the manufacturer of household appliances, is planning to cut up to 450 jobs in Germany. The management announced to implement the job cuts though age-related retirement and wants to avoid direct dismissals. These measurements will be implemented within the next years. Miele acitivties will be relocated and the company announced plans for a new plant for washing machines in Poland with 350 new positions. Miele, headquartered in Gütersloh employs about 10,500 staff members in Germany and 19,000 worldwide.
