Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
US online retailer Amazon has announced its plans to create 15,000 new full time positions in Europe during 2017. The company currently employs over 50,000 people in Europe, having more than 100 offices. The company will recruit in many European countries both highly skilled and unskilled workers.
The vice president of Amazon EU Retail, Xavier Garambois, stated that the recruitment is a result of the important investments in new infrastructure and employment opportunities which will ensure the continuous growth. On Monday 20th February, the company announced that 1,500 of the new positions will be based in France; and 1,000 in Czech Republic.
