Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

JLG, an international manufacturer of access equipment, has announced the closure of its unit in Maasmechelen. In total 200-230 employees are facing dismissal. The dismissals will be performed in two phases. Starting September 2017, 150 employees will be dismissed. In phase 2 starting in 2018 approximately a further 70 workers will lose their jobs. Between 30-40 white collar employees will be transferred to other company units.
