Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 9 January 2017, German shipbuilding company MV Werften announced the creation of approximately 200 jobs starting in 2017. The company has sites in Stralsund, Wismar and Rostock, the new jobs will mainly be located in Wismar.
MV Werften already started the construction works for the river cruise ships Crystal Ravel and Crystal Debussy in August 2016. These ships are major contracts for the company and the delivery date will be in 2017. Overall, the company has been contracted to build 9 ships within the next 5 years. Furthermore, MV Werften wants to start with the construction of prefabricated ship cabins.
The company is a subsidiary of the Malaysian conglomerate Genting. MV Werften employs about 1,500 staff in Germany.
