Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Microsoft plans to create 600 jobs in Dublin, with the majority of these new roles being in the company's sales operation. The technology company's EMEA 'Inside Sales Centre' will house 500 of the new jobs, which are expected to be filled in six months time. A further 100 jobs in finance, operations and engineering are to be created across Microsoft Ireland's operations as well.
Microsoft established its base in Ireland in 1985 and its workforce has grown to 1,200 since then. The company has four units in Ireland: the EMEA Operations Centre; the European Development Centre; the Irish sales and marketing subsidiary; and the EMEA Data Centre.
