Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The ship building group DCNS announced the recruitment of 100 people by 2018. The positions are mainly engineers and managers. The manager of the site of Ollioule (Var), explains in an interview that currently 1,200 employees are working there and that the number of workers will reach 1,300 within a year. DCNS has won a huge contract with the Australian government to build 12 submarines for a total amount of €34 million. The site of Ollioule is specialised in the design and implementation of combat management systems and combat systems for surface vessels and submarines. The group employs 13,000 people on 12 sites in France. Job creation are recorded on the ERM database in 2012 (700 job creations) and in 2011 (100 job creations) but also a restructuring in 2011 (150 job losses).
