Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Danish oil and gas extracting company, Maersk Oil, is continuing its cost-saving programme and will cut 160 jobs in the coming months. The reason for the redundancies is mainly the falling price of crude oil. In connection with the restructuring, the Danish Business Unit will be moved from Copenhagen to Esbjerg on the west coast of Jutland in order for the company to be able to maximise the potential of the Danish part of the North Sea. The headquarters at Esplanaden i Copenhagen will not be affected by the relocation.
The manoeuvre is part of the major restructuring of Maersk Energy that is to be separated from the rest of A.P. Moller-Maersk. Maersk Oil has 1,500 employees in Denmark.
