Finnish long distance coach operator Onnibus has initiated employer-employee negotiations aiming to cut up to 78 jobs. The company aims to cut 60 driver jobs, 14 terminal jobs in Helsinki and 4 administrative positions in Tampere. The need for redundancies has arisen due to increased competition from train operator VR following reduced ticket prices. Onnibus is now discontinuing traffic on unprofitable routes such as the route from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Turku. Negotiations will concern almost all 300 employees at Onnibus.
