Description
The State Revenue Service (SRS) of Latvia has announced 330 job cuts for 2017. The job cuts are part of an internal restructuring, which began in May 2016. In 2016, 220 jobs were cut and in January 2017, the director-general of the SRS, Ilze CÄ«rule, announced that 330 further job cuts are planned for 2017. In total, this means that the staff of the SRS will decrease by 550 employees, which amounts to approximately 15% of the staff. The goal of the restructuring is to make the operations of the institution more effective.Â
The job cuts are in line with the long term reform agenda initiated by the Government of Latvia. The restructuring was initiated under the former director-general of the SRS, InÄra PÄ“tersone, who resigned in May 2016. In November 2016, the Government appointed former insurance executive Ilze CÄ«rule as the new director-general of the SRS.
