Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Allopneus.com, a specialist in the sale of tyres on the Internet, is preparing to build a new logistics site in Valence (Drôme). The construction of the site will start on 30 January. About 250 jobs will be created and the first recruitment will take place in September when the site will be opened. The investment is estimated at €40 million. The company, in which the group Michelin owns 40% of the shares since 2015, has already a logistic site at Oignies (Pas-de-Calais), but it reached a saturation point with 600,000 tyres. The new site will be able to store an additional 600,000 tyres. In 2016, the company has sold about 3.5 million of tyres for a global turnover of €250 million (10% of the French market). The new site will allow the company to explore markets in Italy and Spain in the near future.
