The Co-operative Group has announced plans to invest GBP 70 million (€80 million) over 2017 to open 100 new stores, which will create 1,500 new jobs. The group is expanding its food stores across London, Yorkshire and Scotland. The first wave of stores will open in the first quarter of 2017; five stores will be opened in London by the end of March 2017. A spokesperson for the group said that they were committed to expanding its number of smaller convenience stores and would be looking for a similar scale of expansion in the future.
