Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
DNB, Norway's largest financial services group, will hire 100 new employees in IT over the next year. The company has closed local banks and gradually reduced its staff over the past years as digitalisation has reduced the need for physical banks, and nine out of ten customers now primarily use online banking services. IT and Operations group executive vice president Liv Fiksdahl states that IT-specialists are the bank employees of the future, just as much as economists. She explains that DNB currently spends a lot of its resources on IT, and is now positioning itself for further growth in these services with several upcoming projects. DNB is also planning to outsource the operation of its digital payment platform Vipps, and is currently in talks with Microsoft and Amazon.
