Description
The passengers transporter by bus Megabus, created by the UK group Stagecoach in the framework of the liberalisation of the regional passengers transport by bus launched by the law "Macron" adopted in 2015. On 1st July 2016, the company has been sold to the German group Flixbus. Megabus became a subcontractor of Flixbus. But the German company decided to cancel the commercial agreement with Megabus in August 2016, that forced Megabus to cease its activities. After several weeks of negotiation with unions, Megabus has reached an agreement on an employment safeguard plan that will lead to dismiss the company's 175 employees. About 95 of them worked at Saint-Jean-d'Ardières (Rhône) site. The plan includes external mobility proposals in France (according to Megabus, the management has identified about 310 available positions in France) but also in the UK or in the United States (the plan forecasts to finance a travel to the US for those drivers who are interested to take up a position in the States). The compulsory unemployment allowance, initially fixed at €2,000 per employee has been increased (but the amount is not known). Otherwise employees are entitled to a redemployment leave benefit of 12 months.
