As part of restructuring efforts, BASF, the Germany multi-national chemicals manufacturing corporation, announced to cut up to 400 jobs worldwide by the end of 2018.
The company headquarter is in Ludwigshafen, Germany, where 170 of these jobs cut will take place. Half of these 170 jobs will be offered relocation to the Berlin Shared Service Center.
Beside these cuts, another 180 research and development jobs cut will affect BASF centres in Basel, Switzerland. Basel-Rosental and Schweizerhalle are the two affected centres. The aim declared by the company is operations streamlining and boosting innovation. BASF hopes to redeploy the staff within the company.
