Description
Redcar and Cleveland Council has confirmed that it will make budget cuts of over GBP 25 million (€30 million) over the coming three years, which will result in 100 job cuts. The cuts were widely anticipated and had been reported as likely about a week before news of the confirmation. The cuts will go ahead despite the council simultaneously approving a GBP 8 million (€9.5 million) growth plan. The council has stressed that it will look to keep compulsory redundancies to a minimum. Various councils have made similar cuts as a result of reductions in central Government funding.
