Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The merger of the division of commercial aircraft of Airbus with its mother company could imply the dismissal of 360 workers in Spain in 2017 (4% of its entire workforce), according to trade unions sources. The company expects to implement the employment adjustment by means of voluntary leaves, early retirements and relocations. The company has proposed to the workers a relocation for between 180 and 210 positions. Accordingly, employment adjustment could affect between 150 and 180 workers.
Airbus group has announced that it will dismiss up to a maximum of 1,164 workers in Europe out of a total of 136,00. The negotiation process is still in progress, once the group has presented its report to the the European Working Council a decision will be made.
