Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
AXA Insurance has confirmed that it intends to relocate 150 jobs in its motor claim division from Tunbridge Wells in Kent to Birmingham. The decision has been taken to consolidate the motor claims division at one site; vacancies have been harder to fill in Tunbridge and there has been a high turnover of staff, particularly among the lower paid grades. Staff at Tunbridge have been put on notice of redundancy and individual consultation meetings will now follow. The redundancies mean that half of the staff at the Tunbridge site will be lost. The move is expected to be completed by May 2017. The ERM has previously reported on 650 job cuts at AXA in Belgium, which were announced in September 2016.
