Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Polish furniture company Bydgoskie Fabryki Mebli has announced that it will lay off 19% of its workforce at the facility in Bydgoszcz: 58 jobs will be cut via a collective dismissal programme which will be implemented in November 2016. The company announced that the restructuring programme is a result of the drop in demand for furniture in the Polish market, which has been visible since 2008. The company is currently going into liquidation.
Bydgoskie Fabryki Mebli has been operating for 132 years. Currently, the company employs 301 workers.
