Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Publisher Penguin Random House has announced that it is to create 100 new jobs at its site in Frating, near Colchester. The company had announced in 2015 its intentions to consolidate its warehousing and distribution operations in Grantham and Frating with the closure of its site in Rugby. The Frating site currently employs 600 staff, and some minor building work, including the creation of extra parking spaces will be carried out to house the new employees. The new jobs will be added to various departments at the centre throughout 2017.
