Description
Bolton Council has announced a two year budget which aims to save GBP 12.5 million. As part of the settlement 239 jobs will be lost. Further jobs are being sustained only through the council's reliance on cash reserves. The details of the job losses are yet to be announced, though a spokesperson for the local authority said that it was hoped that compulsory redundancies will be avoided. This suggests that part of the consultation will look at enhanced packages for voluntary redundancies.
