Siemens wind turbine manufacturing facility in Hull has announced the creation of a further 140 jobs. The site, which opened in September 2016, currently employs 650 staff. The jobs have proven very popular, with the company having received over 22,000 applications so far. Over 90% of the successful applicants have been people from the local area - within a 30 mile radius of Hull. The company also commented on the gender balance at the factory; 10% female employment is approximately double the average proportion in large scale engineering and manufacturing, according to the company. As of November 2016, it is not know when the new jobs will be implemented by. In July 2015 and in June 2016 the ERM has previously reported on job creation at the Hull site.
