Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German producer of components for the car industry, Ideal Automotive, is expanding its business to Slovakia. The company has built its first site in the country in the Eurovalley Industrial Park near Malacky (western Slovakia) where it plans to create 50 jobs by the end of 2016 and an additional 200 jobs by the end of 2017. The business expansion is attributed to a new contract with Volkswagen Slovakia, which is located in nearby Bratislava. Textile cladding components for the interiors and exteriors of vehicles will be produced in the new 12,000 square metre factory. According to the company's project manager, Nicola Di Clemente, production will begin in October 2016 and about 250 people will be employed there by the end of 2017. The new jobs will mainly be equipment operating and production assembly jobs.
