Description
The aircraft manufacturer Airbus Helicopters, a subsidiary of Airbus Group, has announced to its Central works council a reorganisation plan that will lead to cut about 582 positions through a voluntary departure plan in 2017 and 2018. The company currently employs 9,200 in France mainly at its site of Marignane near Marseille (8,500 employees) and 700 near Paris, at Le Bourget. About 544 positions would be cut in Marignane and 38 at Le Bourget. The company's turnover has seen a 3% downturn a expect to have to reduce its production. One of its main sector clientele, the petrol industry, has sharply reduced its investments and its order of helicopters. Furthermore, Airbus Helicopters faces a four month flight restriction of its Super Puma helicopter (from June to October 2016), decided by the European Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), following a fatal crash in Norway. Recently, the Polish government has also announced to cancel an order of 50 Caracal helicopter. The management forecasts the compnay will be able to avoid forced dismissals. 383 positions would be cut in 2017 and 199 in 2018. The reorganisation will mainly affect "white collars" in the support functions. The site of Donauwörth in Germany is not affected by the restructuring.
