Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The graphical industry company Artes Gráficas Heliocolor will implement an employment adjustment affecting 209 employees out of a total workforce of 220. The measure has been agreed with the the working committee and the trade unions. In this sense, trade union UGT noted that the measure has been accepted by the workers. Dismissed workers will receive a severance payment equal to 28 days per year worked. In addition, in case the company is bought by a new investor, part of the workers dismissed would be reintegrated to their previous job. A bipartite board has been created to monitor that those agreements are fulfilled.
The company Artes Gráficas Heliocolor stopped producing last June and most of the workers have been 6 months without their wages being paid.
