Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Dot-it-Yourself chain Weldom is building a logistics platform of 84,000 m2 in Breuil-le-Sec (Oise) that will lead to create 250 positions over time. « We have already recruited 87 people, explains Angel Hernanz, logistics director. 60% are from the local employment area. The local recruitment was the condition imposed by the community of municipalities to support financially the new site. According to the general manager this new logistic site will also 'improve the employees’ working conditions'. One hundred positions will be filled as soon as the business is operational in the last quarter of 2017, the profiles more in demand are for warehouse and shipping workers.
