Description
The BBC has announced plans to cut 300 jobs from its production arm, BBC Studios. This move is being made as part of a wider strategy of cost-cutting across the organisation. The future of BBC Studios remains unclear as there are currently plans to transfer its undertakings to a private company in 2017. The Bectu trade union, which represents BBC staff, commented that the announcement of job cuts had been expected following the recent licence fee settlement and ongoing cost-cutting. The job cuts are still subject to collective consultation procedures which will start in late October 2016.
