Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Cement manufacturer LafargeHolcim has announced a reorganisation of its central and support services that will lead ot about 250 job cuts by the end of 2017. The positions will mainly be cut in France (80 position in L'Isle d'Abeau) and Switzerland (130 position in Holderbank). 40 other positions will be cut in the rest of the world, according to management. The group employed, at the ofend 2015, about 100,900 employees worldwide including 23,900 in Europe. Since the announcement of the merger of Lafarge and Holcim in May 2015, it is the third wawe of restructuring. Word wide job cuts were recorded in May 2015 (380 job cuts).
