Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The government of the federal state of Rheinland-Pfalz announced plans to cut 2,000 positions by 2020. The state wants to have a balanced budget in 2020 and will therefore not be re-filling positions. There will not be any direct dismissals.

According to the Ministry of Education there are plans to close some smaller schools due to the decrease in numbers of pupils. In a first reaction to the restructuring, the teachers union GEW requested to fill the vacancies in the schools with social workers and pedagogical experts. Currently almost 116,000 people are employed by the government of the federal state of Rheinland-Pfalz.
