Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The commercial court of Le Mans has decided the liquidation of the lighting manufacturer Silen that will lead to the closure of its twi sites of Saint-Calais (Sarthe) with 21 job cuts and Nevers (Nièvre) with 83 job cuts. A total of 104 employees will be dismissed if the management fails to find a company to take over the sites within a month. The site of Nevers was bought by Silen in 2015, which launched an employment safeguard plan to cut about 42 positions.
