Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Credit management company Lowell Group is creating 100 new jobs at its Leeds base. The company currently employs 1,300 in West Yorkshire and a further 250 staff in the south of England. Various customer service roles are being created including in IT, credit and risk. Part of the recruitment campaign aims to find people through the power of social media. It is being launched on the Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook platforms. A spokesperson for the Lowell group commented that social media was increasingly an increasingly important method of job search for young people and the group's campaign was in response to jobseeker behaviour. It is being reported that the company expects the jobs to be filled within two months.
