Description
GE Global Research, a subsidiary of US multinational conglomerate General Electric announced to create some 200 job at its new research laboratory in Garching. The laboratory has a wide range of research topics like renewable energies, fibre composites, drive technology and will focus on digitalisation in the future.
General Electric built the new laboratory to expand its capacity on its only research site in Europe. The jobs will be created till the end of 2016. Currently 250 people are working in Garching for GE Global Research and 50, 000 worldwide for General Electric.
In January 2016 General Electric announced plans to cut up to 1,700 jobs due to internal restructuring (General Electric, 2016).
