Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Car parts manufacturer GKN has announced that it is to cut 251 jobs from its workforce in Telford, Shropshire. Employment will be terminated on 18 August 2016. The decision has been taken largely because of the end of a contract for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). The contract, which was for manufacture of Land Rover chassis platforms, accounts for 230 of the jobs lost, with the work of a further 21 positions on a hybrid bus project being taken on by the company's Birmingham site.
